Paging Encoders
Model 5 Encoder
The Zetron Model 5 Communications Encoder is a compact low-cost desktop paging encoder for selective calling of two-tone and five-tone sequential pagers. A 12-digit high-quality keypad allows for manual entry of pager codes. A four-digit display indicates the number of the pager being called. The pager number remains on the display after the paging sequence is complete, allowing immediate re-page without reentry of the pager number. Three LEDs indicate when the encoder is paging, transmitting, and when the microphone is open for the voice transmission to tone-and-voice pagers. The voice transmission can be made through the built-in electret microphone or through a normal desk microphone. The built-in microphone, which can also be used to make voice broadcasts over the transmitter, is equipped with automatic gain control for optimum voice pick-up.
Model 5 Encoder Features and Configuration
- Signals analog two-tone and five-tone pagers or radios
- Tone only, tone and voice paging
- Connects to standard mobile radio
- Built-in microphone
- All programmable settings made from the keypad
- Repeat, alert tone facilities

Model 16 Digital Paging Panel
POCSAG Encoder
The Model 16 is a computer-driven, digital paging POCSAG encoder which can be connected to the port of a personal computer. The Model 16 is ideal for factory automation systems and startup paging operators wishing to provide a cost effective bureau-type paging service.
A single PC may be directly connected to the Model 16 or multiple users may share access to the system in a Local Area Network (LAN). Alternatively, the Model 16 may be fitted with a dial-up modem so that PC’s with modems may dial into the Model 16 to place a page. The Model 16 may be connected to a local transmitter or a transmitter remotely sited for better coverage.
Model 16 Digital Paging Panel Features and Configuration
- Serial TAP interface
- Remote transmitter control
- High efficiency batching algorithms
- Supports 512 and 1200 baud POCSAG, and Golay formats

Model 25 Programmable Encoder
Emergency Dispatch Encoder
The Model 25 is an instant call encoder. It is used in airports, fire and emergency centers to call out pager users with the press of a single button or through the Computer Aided Dispatch interface.
Each instant call key is programmable and can alert a single pager or team of pager users. Different types of pager may be combined in the same system, including both analog (5-tone) and digital (POCSAG) pagers.
Model 25 Programmable Encoder Features and Configuration
- Keypad and 29 easily labeled instant-call keys, expandable to 206
- Serial port for logging printer or CAD
- Automatically controls and selects among up to 8 transmitters
- Tone, Tone and Voice, Numeric paging
- Field Programming from keypad or PC

Model 61/61F Network Access Paging Encoder
Satellite Coverage
The Model 61 receives TNPP data via an RS-232 port from a satellite downlink, wireline, or radio link. It then encodes pages and batches them for transmission. Ideal for remote sites that need to monitor for co-channel activity before paging, the Model 61 makes any digital transmitter a simple and inexpensive TNPP network node. Model 61F encodes FLEX™ and POCSAG; Model 61 encodes POCSAG and Golay Paging formats.
The Model 61F offers the benefits of the FLEX protocol and FLEX pagers to the smallest paging operator.
The Model 61 can also be used as a backup for a M640 or 2000 Series paging terminal. It will send alphanumeric pages should the main terminal be disabled.
Model 61/61F Network Access Paging Encoder Features and Configuration
- Makes any digital transmitter a TNPP network node
- FLEX, POCSAG, and Golay Paging
